The plaque “Wan Wu Xian Li” means “the act of benevolence benefits everything on the universal.” From Qing emperor Guangxu in the 10th year of his reign, the region of Pearl River Delta was devastated by the calamity on June of 1885. Tung Wah Hospital raised a total of 100,000 dollars, so Zhang Zhidong, the Viceroy of the two Guangs, petitioned Qing emperor to praise this act of charity by the plaque.
