According to “Taishō Tripiṭaka”, lotus has four virtues: fragrance, pure, soft and lovely. So the lotus has the symbolic meaning of Buddhism. Sakyamuni Buddha, Amitabha Buddha and Kwun Yum are all sitting on the lotus, or hand-held lotus to represent the purity and cleanness of the Buddha. Therefore, the temple offer the Lotus Lantern for worship.
